BeTheDealer Online Casino Defaults on Payments

It is not good news for the online gaming industry when an online casino defaults on its payment obligations. Unfortunate as it may be, such news has to be given due publicity to protect the interests of the players

Recently an incident was reported of BeTheDealer online casino reneging on a payment due to the player. BeTheDealer is owned by CV on Net NV and is registered in the Netherlands Antilles, which is a reputed online gaming jurisdiction. It is powered by proprietary software. There are quite a few popular and credible online casinos running on proprietary software so that is not a problem in itself. But having proprietary software eliminates the possibility of intervention from an external software provider in the case of a dispute and this weakens the player’s situation.

A player on BeTheDealer had been chasing the online casino for a payment in excess of $30,000. The casino had not disputed the payment but had come to an understanding with the player of releasing the payment in installments. It had even paid the first installment but thereafter did not pay anything. When two installments were skipped the player contacted customer support and simultaneously sought help from Casinomeister. BeTheDealer eventually responded to Casinomeister stating that it had resolved the issue with the player and that it would make up the missing installments in a few days. The player confirmed this understanding but was forced to return to Casinomeister because BeTheDealer did not keep up its commitments. The online casino repeated the same story that it had set fresh dates for the payments in consultation with the player. However these dates also passed without any payments being made. Thereafter BeTheDealer refused to respond emails from the player or from Casinomeister. Under the circumstances Casinomeister had no option but to declare the casino as a rogue and put up a warning in the public domain. The full warning reads, “Warning: BeTheDealer is not paying players even after agreeing to payout terms. The casino manager repeatedly makes and breaks commitments with the end result that players wait but the payments never come. When the requests for help become inconvenient the casino people simply refuse to reply.”

This is an unfortunate situation because BeTheDealer had introduced an innovative concept in online gaming. It gave the players an option of deciding whether they would like to play as the “player” or as the “dealer”. Not only did this give a new dimension to playing online but it enabled the players to increase the chances of winning by taking advantage of the house edges. By being the dealer the house edges prevalent in casino games worked in their favor. With the intense competition in the online gaming industry such innovations are welcome. But they need to be backed by integrity or they come to naught.
